Rubier, adding additional stars is primarily a matter of adjusting the css and html code and shouldn't be too hard. To get the right to left hover effect you can flip (horizontally, in Photoshop) the underlying images, and you should be good to go!

Does anyone know how to add additional stars to the left of the first star to make negative ratings possible? How can you get the hover stars to move from right to left instead of left to right? Thanks.

Magic, you can't integrate this exact code within blogger (unfortunately). Having said that, there are plenty of ready-to-use javascript widgets which allow easy integration with any blogging platform. Google is your friend here. :)

Phill, thanks for pointing that out. Plugin source code may have changed quite a bit since I originally posted this article. I've updated the link so other readers don't run into the same problem.

Well after spending considerable time trying to get this working. I figured out that you referenced the incorrect plugin. It turns out there are 3 versions of acts_as_rateable. The correct source for your blog is located here -

http://juixe.com/svn/acts_as_rateable/

Hope that helps. If I'm incorrect about this please let me know. But I could not find the methods mentioned in your article, or the methods mentioned in Dave Naffis' article. The missing methods were located in the source located above.

Thanks.

Maybe I'm slow but rated_by_user? is not available. You mentioned it was a standard function, but I get

undefined method `rated_by_user?' for....

I also get an error with the nparams line.

undefined local variable or method `nparams'....

Is there anyway to get a complete view of all the components? Like the controller code.

Thanks
